Latest collaboration with Katina Bay, more down tempo, groovy, chilled, laid-back style. Smooth and soulful. This track began more uptempo and rhythmic e-piano chords, however after experimentation with smooth synth pads, a melodic bass line, laid back kick and a crisp finger click, this seemed to sit better in the overall mix.

Inspired by many of my dance music influences, this is a Club Remix produced by BNJMN of the original Great Divide, co-produced by Katina Bay and Benjamin Pfeiffer. Lyrics, chords, vocals by Katina Bay. Production, mixing and engineering by Benjamin Pfeiffer.

This is the third collaboration between Katina Bay and myself BNJMN. Kat wrote and sent through the original piano and vocal stems with lyrics and with our joint collaboration in terms of arrangement, I’ve then built the surrounding instrumentation including percussion, synth pads, bass, delays, effects and final mixing of the track.

This is an orchestrated remix of a previous track I wrote in September 2016 named ‘Expand’.

This track was written for a film soundtrack, the film didn’t end up going ahead, but we kept the soundtrack. It began with 4 chords played in an arpeggiated form, followed by some massive synth patching, pads, filter sweeps and a nice big lead!

Latest collaboration with Katina Bay. This track began as an acoustic piano and vocal piece by the very talented Kat, to which I added the surrounding instrumentation including percussion, kicks, clicks, layered sfx, delays, sub bass, synth pads, vocal processing and overall mixing and mastering.

Below is the first film scoring project I worked on during Trimester 5 at SAE. It was a great opportunity to work with a Film student who delivered an audio brief which outlined the instrumentation and feeling he wanted for the film. I really enjoyed composing this indigenous/african style of music, it’s powerful and set the scene well. I received a lot of great feedback which was really encouraging. I look forward to working on more film scoring in the future.

Below is a collaboration with a great singer/song-writer and close friend of mine Katina Bay. Kat wrote the melodies and lyrics and piano and I had her in the studio to record the vocals. I was then given the opportunity to produce the track and bring it to life based on the feel Kat had initiated. This song really takes you on a journey of classical flowing vocals crossed with a hard dance beat over 6 minutes. Really enjoyed this project and look forward to writing more music with Kat.

Below is a three track EP I wrote for a Trimester 5 project. Each track has a very different style. Expand is more EDM. Lax is jazz/chill and Exit is acoustic, piano and myself on vocals. These tracks are really good examples of my initial writing process and I’ve enjoyed every moment. Particularly starting out with a good chord progression and building the track around it, whether it be melodies, bass lines, percussion and whatever else I hear the track may need.

Below is a track I wrote recently as background music for a website one of my mates recently launched for a clothing label www.portseaclothingco.net Check out the website. The idea was to create the right feel for the visual, had some great feedback too. Really enjoyed this type of work.

Below is a three track EP I completed during Trimester 4 at SAE. It falls under the Tropical House genre and very much inspired by artists like Norwegian Kygo and Canadian Pomo. I recorded some live instruments for the percussion elements including congas, bongos, clave and finger clicks to create my own samples. I really enjoy this genre of music, so it was even better making it.

Below is a collaboration with fellow student Matthew Osborne. This was two track we wrote together for a Trimester 3 project based on the music of Disclosure. Matthew is an awesome electronic music producer and I really enjoyed working with him. Reaction I am on vocals and wrote the lyrics, melodies and chords. Matt worked on more the percussion side of things. Fire was a UK garage inspired track, and again, myself on the chords and melodies and Matt on percussion and samples. Really enjoyed this project.

Below is a group of other small tasks and projects completed during the early stages of my studies at SAE.
